In contrast to the old adage, computers are definitely built for speed and not comfort or any other semblance of luxury that you can think of. Most computer users want their computer to do the task asked of it as quickly as possible without “sparing the horses”. So it comes with a growing sense of frustration and maybe a few choice expletives, when the computer begins to slow down. Indeed, an extremely slow computer can turn a simple 5 minute job into a 30 minute ordeal. If this compounds onto the next job, the productivity of the individual concerned can take a severe nose dive. So what can be done about your extremely slow computer?
In most cases, the reason why a computer is slow is because it is overweight (digitally speaking). Out of the box, a computer has nothing but the operating system and a few other pre-installed programs to fill up it’s hard drive and tax the processor and operating memory. So it runs fast. Just like the search dog, it is back at you with it’s tail wagging asking for something else to do in next to no time.
However as you use it more, you add more programs, delete programs, change certain settings and collect various items of digital bric-a-brac. This fills up places like your desktop or your startup folder. Various programs may be split up and located on various parts of the hard drive. So when the processor tries to run the program it has to go here, there and everywhere to find what it’s looking for. This takes time. In some cases it can’t find what it is look for and it might just freeze or case the operating system to crash.
In the case of PC’s that are using windows operating systems one way to solve this problem is to run a registry cleaner program. The registry on a Windows operating system is a record of where programs are stored and links to various locations in the computers memory. The CPU will go to the registry for this type of information when it is asked to do something.
If the registry has redundant links or information that is out of date, the computer will run slow. Good registry cleaner software will clear up all the redundant links meaning that the processor will be able to access the information it needs faster. Thus you can improve the speed of your computer by running a registry scan and taking the appropriate action that is recommended. In effect, if your computer is extremely slow you can give it a much needed turbo charge by running a registry cleaner every so often.
