1. Defrag Disk to Speed Up Access to Data

One of the factors that slow the performance of the computer is disk fragmentation. When files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard disk when the file is opened to piece it back together. To speed up the response time, you should monthly run Disk Defragmenter, a Windows utility that defrags and consolidates fragmented files for quicker computer response.

• Follow Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter
• Click the drives you want to defrag and click Analyze
• Click Defragment

Hi! My computer is very slow booting up and has drastically slowed down (or freezes) navigating between files/programs, opening and closing programs, etc…. I recently re-installed Microsoft Office 2007 and shortly before that had to re-install Java as well. Java Applets were not loading and running. Last time I had both of these programs installed, both seemed to cause the same problem- slowed common functions down (issues mentioned above) or froze. So, I decided to run HijackThis to see if the problem could be found. Any help you can give it appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!!

Newer computers have newer technology, which means improved security, stability, and new features. Or maybe there is a new software package you want to use — and your old computer doesn’t meet the system requirements.

After years of trials and tribulations, I’ve finally come up with a system to get my computer running very fast and efficiently. Here’s how I do it, feel free to follow if you feel your computer and/or laptop (for the purpose of this article the term “Computer” stands for both) doesn’t work as fast as you think its capable of given your RAM, CPU, Operating System, Hard Drive and Internet Connection. Many of these programs I’ve listed below, do the same or similar functions but I’ve found they get different results and I get the best results when I use them together in the order shown below. I do the following steps with the following software, every time I either reboot my computer, add or delete a program or if I feel the computer isn’t working as fast as I think it should be:

1. I click on (TuneUp Utilities) 1 -Click Maintenance which quickly cleans up your registry and hard drive with one click. 1-Click Maintenance is part of this software and is the basic application I use from it.

2. I then use (Sammsoft) Advanced Registry Optimizer and click Scan and Fix Registry Now which further scans and fixes Errors

When I need to fix my slow computer, I simply run a registry repair software. I used to get pretty upset when my computer would start running slow, locking up, restarting, or even giving me the blue screen of death. But now, no worries any more. I simply run my registry repair software, fix the errors causing the slowness, and let the software fix them for me. Using a registry repair program is the best way I have found to fix my slow computer.

What makes a computer go really fast? Simple. The processor. Computer processors are called CPUs, which stands for Central Processing Unit. The CPU is the “chip” that must essentially perform logical and mathematical calculations in order for the computer to do its work. The second most important part is RAM.
